Build - Very light, small (screen’s smaller than iPod Touch / iPhone). Screen is bright, Speaker’s louder than my 2nd Gen iPod Touch, but not as loud as an iPhone 3GS (will test further).
Keyboard- Still getting used to the smaller keyboard, i keep messing when typing – and for some reason s I can’t turn off the Chinese keyboard option.
Android OS – If you’re going to use Android OS, you will use your Google account. I live in Google, and all my Contacts, Calendar, and Settings got synced over the air while at the Smart Center playing around with the phone.
HTC Interface – Transforms the HTC Magic from great to Awesome. There’s about 7 home screens from my count which you can customize with widgets. This is how you use Widgets on your phone (I’m looking at you, Samsung touch-screen phone) + you can save Home Screen “Scenes” profiles to customize widget and home screen arrangement and settings, just like a profile. (more on this later)
OTA Syncing – Almost instantaneous, there’s a few minutes of lag between syncing my Facebook Pictures from my iPod Touch over to Google’s servers and over to the Magic’s Contact list, but I may have just been too excited.
Included Accessories – Sleeve is too snug, and it doesn’t completely fit due to the curvature of the phone, it might fit better over time.
Headset – No 3.5mm port, there’s a proprietary mini USB port headphone that’s too big for your ear. This isn’t going to replace your primary music device.
Facebook Integration – native inside Contacts, you can link your Google Contacts to your Facebook friends, and sync their pictures and events (which goes to your calendar). The HTC Contacts app integration is sweet.
Notifications – Very slick, all new messages (SMS, Email, even twitter mentions) are scrolled along the top notification area, along with downloads, installations, streaming, playback, and running apps.
Even while running at Android 1.5, this is a great phone. I can only imagine how the newer phones feel like (Droid, Nexus One, Legend, etc).
Next up, more apps.
